You may qualify for federal tax credits when you add certain energy-saving options to your lifestyle. Some American Standard Heating and Air Conditioning systems qualify and can help you save money with these tax credits.

Exciting HVAC Incentives for Homeowners!

Ready to support the environment while tapping into lower energy bills? Thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), investing in an energy-efficient HVAC system is more affordable than ever. This act allocates nearly $370 billion to climate and energy programs, and homeowners who invest in eligible HVAC systems may qualify for incentives that benefit both their wallet and the planet.

Homeowners who install a qualifying HVAC system:

  • Before December 31st, 2022, and meet the Energy-Efficient Home Improvement Tax Credit (25C) requirements may be eligible for a tax credit between $50 to $300, or up to 10% of the installation costs ($500 maximum).
  • From January 1, 2023, to December 31, 2032, may be eligible for higher incentives under the expanded the Energy-Efficient Home Improvement Tax Credit (25C). Savings are available nationwide and include:
  • Up to $2,000 for a qualified heat pump
  • Up to $600 for qualified air conditioners
  • Up to $600 for qualified furnaces
  • There is a $600 tax credit for electrical upgrades to enable heat pump installation

*Note: Some states and locations may offer additional tax incentives, rebates, or credits for investing in energy-efficient HVAC, depending upon income and other factors.

Rebate programs related to energy efficiency

Download the manufacturer certificate for the type of system you have. Save these certificates for tax season and use them when you file your federal taxes.


Heat pump unit manufacturer certificate

Your heat pump or dual fuel system must meet or exceed these efficiency ratings that vary based on system type and installed location:

Gas furnace manufacturer's certificate

Gas furnaces use natural gas or propane to generate heat for your home. Your system must meet the following efficiency rating: 97% AFUE


Air conditioner manufacturer certificate

The air conditioner in your system must have both efficiency ratings per system type:
