The American Standard Home App pairs with your American Standard smart thermostat and internet access to control your HVAC system from your smartphone, whether you’re at home, at work, at the airport, or anywhere else. More than half a million homeowners across the country use our Home App each month to create custom comfort settings and monitor their HVAC system’s performance. But the experience left something to be desired.

We took comments like these and others to heart and set to work updating functionality and redesigning the Home App's look and feel. The updates address the complaints, and the new app experience is sleek and intuitive.
“We've listened closely to homeowners, and this new app experience reflects the future of the Home App. With a clean, modern design and helpful touches like the Now and Up Next cards, it gives people a clear, simple view of what their system is doing today - and it's the foundation for all the exciting features we'll be introducing moving forward.”

The images below on the left show what the old experience looked like with the “undo” buttons, and the images on the right show what the new and improved scheduling experience looks like.

The new scheduling interface helps you customize your comfort. Larger buttons and day-by-day scheduling with various time periods each day make it easy to get the comfort you want, when you want it.
No worries about fat fingers accidentally deleting a schedule change or changing the start and end times. No need to keep tapping Undo.
“Our scheduling experience still supports everything homeowners could do before, but now it's intuitive and much easier to use. We redesigned it to help people build and manage their own bespoke schedules without frustration.”
- Dana Hembroff, Digital Home Product Owner
Currently, the new Home App experience is in testing and getting rave reviews. And we’re still making tweaks based on feedback from our early testers.
- “I can see all the necessary information on the home screen. I like the heat and cool options.”
- “I like that it is highly customized even within the days. My days are personally very committed to a schedule, so seeing this option when I know what my schedule is each week is very convenient. I don’t have to worry about going into the app constantly. I can set it and forget it!”
- “It presents routine scheduling in a clear, vertical manner and users can manage their thermostat setting with minimal effort.”
- “The home screen is very visual and good use of the features needed. It has what I need for the main controls.”
- “I like being able to edit my schedules based on preferences and the current weather or season.”
Trane Technologies’ Dana Hembroff has been overseeing the transition from old and clunky to sleek and intuitive.
“I spend a lot of time testing the app myself with the smart thermostats right on my desk. It helps me experience the same things our homeowners do, so we can quickly address pain points and make sure the experience feels simple and intuitive.”

Clear and intuitive design makes it easier to find and do what you need
The Home App redesign also moved some popular features to the Home screen so you don’t have to hunt for what you need. Adjust the schedule, see what’s next, fan settings, utility savings program opt-in, contact your dealer, etc.
“By bringing 'Service' into the top-level menu, we're making it much easier for homeowners to get the help they need. Whether you already have a trusted dealer or need to find one quickly, support is now just one tap away.”
- Dana Hembroff, Digital Home Product Owner

“As we begin rolling out the new experience, we want homeowners to explore it at their own pace. You'll be able to toggle back and forth at first, but this new design represents the future of the Home App. We'd love for you to try it early and share your feedback so we can keep making it even better!”

Take advantage of remote monitoring and HVAC diagnostics
If you haven’t already opted in, you can use the Home App to opt in to dealer remote monitoring easily. You only need to do this once. When you do, your American Standard smart thermostat transmits information about system performance and maintenance alerts to your American Standard dealer. This HVAC system monitoring can help them spot trends and potential issues before they become big problems.

If they think they can solve a problem remotely, they’ll ask you via the Home App to allow one-time Dealer Remote Access (DRA) so they can troubleshoot and attempt a fix.
If they need to set an in-home service appointment, the HVAC technician will arrive with the right tools and parts, saving you and the HVAC company time and money. They will also be armed with the American Standard HVAC Technician App to help maintain, repair, or install an HVAC system.

Future improvements: We’re not done yet
We’ve designed the new Home App so we can easily add new features in the future. Some of the ideas we’re considering based on homeowner feedback include:
- Scheduling a maintenance or repair appointment directly on the Service page.
- Chat availability.
- AI integration with our proprietary manuals and other data to answer your HVAC questions.
None of these features is guaranteed, but they are ideas we are considering after hearing from our homeowners.
Integration with new smart 24v smart thermostats
The new Home App experience will be fully integrated with our upcoming 24v smart thermostat redesigns. We’re giving the Gold 824 and Silver 724 smart thermostats a much-needed overhaul in 2026. They’ll have a sleek, new design similar to other smart thermostats on the market, while providing exclusive features to help you customize your comfort and maximize your energy savings.
We’ll have more details on these upgrades later this year.
Keep your smart HVAC system running at peak performance
In addition to keeping you comfortable, a smart HVAC system can help you reduce your energy usage and save money on your energy bills. But to keep things running smoothly, you need to schedule regular maintenance. Work with your local American Standard dealer to get the most out of your system.
