What is American Standard Diagnostics?
American Standard Diagnostics is a remote monitoring and diagnostics program. Your American Standard smart thermostat provides your dealer with real-time and historical HVAC system performance data.
Dealers equipped with diagnostics can view the health of HVAC systems, identify issues, and quickly determine an accurate course of action before heading out to a homeowner. This way, they can save time and money by bringing the right parts and tools to the job the first time, or even resolve the issue remotely.
Perhaps the closest situation is if you have ever had a remote Information Technology (IT) person gain remote access to your computer to troubleshoot and fix an issue. You have to grant them access, they look around and troubleshoot, and if things work as planned, they resolve the problem remotely.
You are eligible for this HVAC monitoring and remote diagnostics program if you have an American Standard smart thermostat and you have set up the Home App.
Once you’ve opted in, your smart thermostat sends data to your dealer, including runtime information, configuration settings, system performance, and alerts. You only have to opt in once, and your dealer has access to this information unless you opt out.
Your HVAC system doesn’t need to be an American Standard system. You just need to have one of our smart thermostats to participate.
“With American Standard Diagnostics, your system is connected and designed to share performance insights with your dealer so they can spot, diagnose, and often fix issues remotely. That means fewer surprises for the Technician, faster service for the homeowner, and comfort that never takes a day off.”

What is Dealer Remote Access?
Dealer remote access (DRA) gives you the flexibility to permit your American Standard dealer to troubleshoot and potentially fix your HVAC system remotely. It’s an additional feature available via the Home App.
If the dealer believes they can diagnose or fix a problem remotely, they will ask for one-time access for that issue. Each time they need remote access, you would receive a separate notification to grant or deny access.
Once you grant it, they delve into the problem and attempt the fix. Once they have made the repairs or determined that an on-site visit is necessary, the DRA session ends.
What are the benefits of HVAC remote monitoring and diagnostics?
1. Dealers catch problems early
By opting into remote monitoring, you allow your American Standard dealer to monitor your HVAC system’s health. They can spot trends and issues while they’re still small, before they turn into expensive problems requiring extensive repairs. They also get alerts when it’s time for routine HVAC system maintenance.
2. You save time and money
By catching problems early, you help reduce your HVAC repair costs. By enabling dealer remote access, both you and the dealer can save time and money. Remote troubleshooting and diagnostics means the dealer can potentially solve some problems remotely, saving a service call.
And if an HVAC technician does need to come to your home, they arrive with the right parts and the knowledge gleaned from remote troubleshooting. This means a shorter service call than if they had to troubleshoot on site and go to a supply house to get the right parts.
3. You get peace of mind
A residential HVAC monitoring system like American Standard Diagnostics can give you peace of mind. Remote monitoring helps support the health of your system, even when you’re away from home, such as on vacation.
A sudden cold snap or heat wave can make your HVAC system work overly hard, which can lead to performance issues and even a system breakdown. Your American Standard dealer can alert you to problems via the Home App, and repair your system while you’re away, as long as you have a designated person on site during repairs. In this way, you can avoid issues like frozen pipes or mold growth that can come with high humidity.
4. It’s secure
American Standard Diagnostics only lets your dealer access information about how your HVAC system is performing. Your dealer will not get access to any other device in your home, including devices connected to the Home App. Your data remains encrypted.
"Our connected platform is built to safeguard homeowners' privacy while helping dealers keep their systems running at their best."
