Why choose an American Standard whole-home humidifier

Sometimes called furnace humidifiers because of their common location next to the furnace, American Standard whole-house humidifiers are backed by our innovative technology and dedication to energy efficiency.

If you live in an area with long, dry winters or in an arid climate, you know that low humidity can cause dry skin, dry hair, chapped lips, and respiratory symptoms. Low humidity can also damage wood floors and furniture.

Several types of humidifiers available

All 3 types of our whole-house humidifiers connect to your home’s water supply to draw in water as needed. When the thermostat sends a call for humidity, water is released into the humidifier. The humidifier then operates until the desired humidity level is reached, and then shuts off.

Options include:

  • Fan-powered humidifier
  • Bypass humidifier
  • Steam humidifier

Work with your American Standard dealer to find the right solution for your home.

Whole-home humidifier benefits

  • Eliminates the need for portable humidifiers
  • Maintains a comfortable humidity level automatically
  • Can help prevent dry skin, allergies, respiratory health, and more
  • Can be controlled via the Home App
  • Low maintenance – more on that below

Ease of maintenance

Unlike a portable humidifier, where you need to clean it and replace the water frequently, a whole-house humidifier is very low maintenance. Since it is connected to your home’s water supply, you never need to worry about replenishing the water. You will need to change the humidifier pad yearly.

One caveat: A steam humidifier may require more maintenance, and it should be performed by an HVAC technician.

Why choose an American Standard whole-home dehumidifier

Does your home feel damp or smell musty? If you answered yes, you likely have high indoor humidity. This can lead to discomfort, higher energy bills, mold growth, and other problems. An American Standard whole-house dehumidifier can help make your home comfortable again, help lower your energy bills, and help prevent mold and mildew growth.

“A whole-home dehumidifier is an ideal option for homeowners in climates with higher relative humidities in the south, along the coastlines, etc. Though your traditional HVAC equipment can solve most of the humidity problem in the home, the extra boost from a whole-home dehumidifier complements the homeowners’ journey toward a more comfortable space.”

- Sean Goddard, Product Manager, Coils & Indoor Air Quality

Whole-house humidity control

Our energy-efficient dehumidifier removes moisture from the air all day long – up to 120 pints (15 gallons) of water per day. This should keep your humidity level in a healthy and comfortable range, between 30% and 50%.

In addition, this unit can dehumidify a home up to 3,000 square feet.

Air filtration and optional ventilation

Each whole-house dehumidifier is equipped with a MERV 13 filter for improved indoor air quality and can provide optional ventilation for cleaner, fresher air.

Hidden away

In contrast to a big, ugly portable unit, a whole-house dehumidifier installs unobtrusively in your basement, crawl space, attic, closet, or other space. It can be installed as a standalone unit or connected to your existing ductwork to use with your HVAC system fan.

Low maintenance

If you’ve ever used a portable dehumidifier, you know they require daily maintenance. You have to manually empty the reservoir or attach an unsightly drain hose. You also have to clean the unit weekly to prevent mold growth.

With our whole-house dehumidifier, drainage happens automatically and is part of standard installation. You or an HVAC technician will need to change the filter every 3-6 months.
