Also known as a Wi-Fi thermostat, a smart thermostat provides control of your HVAC system from anywhere, at any time, through the internet. Beyond programming and controlling the temperature, you can adjust humidity, airflow, and more—and some models learn your habits to provide automatic temperature control. When geofencing is enabled, the thermostat can even adjust the temperature as you’re nearing your home. 

Full control of your HVAC system has never been simpler: Just pair an American Standard smart thermostat with the American Standard Home App. Forgot to change your system settings before you left for work or vacation? Open the Home App on your smartphone and you’re all set. Voice assistants such as Google Home and Amazon’s Alexa work seamlessly with the Home App too—just speak a few words to lower or raise the temperature.

In a similar way that a security company monitors your home, opting into American Standard Diagnostics via the Home App gives your American Standard dealer remote monitoring capabilities. By tracking the health of your HVAC system, your dealer can identify potential issues while they’re still small. In some cases, they can even solve a problem remotely (if you give them one-time access), in the same way a remote IT person can resolve computer issues—saving you time and money by avoiding a service call.

Innovative American Standard Link™ technology, available on select HVAC systems, communicates between system components to optimize performance. The benefits of this technology start with installation, ensuring quality with automated verification tests, and extend through the life of the unity with advanced troubleshooting capabilities. Variable-speed communicating systems come with the Link™ Communicating System Controller and Smart Thermostat to promote optimal system performance.

By combining a central control unit and HVAC dampers that send conditioned air to where it is needed, a zoned HVAC system can help you get to “just right” throughout your house. 

Heat pumps and AC units consume the most power when they cycle on. As a result, single-stage and two-stage units, which turn on and off frequently during extreme outdoor temperatures, can use a lot of power. In contrast, multi-speed systems and premium variable-speed systems run for a longer time at lower speeds. The result? They use less energy to provide enhanced comfort, with our most efficient variable-speed units running at 30-100% capacity, depending on your set temperature and the temperature outside. Another benefit is superior dehumidification, which allows you to set a higher temperature while maintaining comfort.
