Comfort, Made More Sustainable
As part of our plan to deliver sustainable comfort to you and your family, American Standard’s new equipment will use refrigerant with low global warming potential (GWP).

The Future of HVAC is Here
Find out how American Standard’s commitment to sustainability and innovation drives us to create products that operate more efficiently, without sacrificing the whole-home comfort you depend on.
High-Performance HVAC to Power a Greener Tomorrow
What’s driving the
refrigerant changes?
Starting on January 1, 2025, industry regulations will require newly manufactured HVAC systems to use refrigerants with low global warming potential.
What does that mean
for homeowners?
Our new HVAC products won’t just use more eco-friendly refrigerant — many of the new designs operate more efficiently, helping you save money on energy bills and potentially qualify for additional incentives.
What’s next for your
HVAC System?
American Standard will continue to service HVAC systems that use traditional refrigerants. When your system requires service, an American Standard pro can help you decide whether to repair your current system or replace it with a newer model.
Engineered for Excellence
For years, most HVAC products used a refrigerant called R-410A. However, to comply with regulations that start in January 2025, we’re offering a new lineup of equipment that uses a more environmentally-friendly refrigerant: R-454B. Using this refrigerent means our new systems will achieve zero ozone depletion potential and reduce global warming potential by 78% compared to traditional refrigerant.
We’ve been testing products with R-454B behind the scenes for years to ensure they deliver the reliable performance American Standard is known for. R-454B is designed to meet current and future refrigerant regulations, so you can rest easy — and comfortably — for years to come.
